In August 2026, Experience Workshop Oy organised another “AI and Digital Competences for Everyday Learning. ChatGPT, Coding, Robotics and MakerSpaces for Teachers” Erasmus+ teacher training course. The training took place in Jyväskylä, Finland, and was attended by educators from Germany, the Netherlands, and Turkey. The course was led by trainers Erika Avikainen and Jukka Lehtoranta, with expert guest lecture by Leon Jurčić.
About the course
This six-day programme is designed to address a fundamental shift in education. In a rapidly evolving digital age, educators across all subjects need practical skills and strategies to integrate technology effectively. The course is built around a 30-lesson curriculum that covers the key areas of digital competence, with a specific focus on artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, and ICT-based assessment.
A central value of the course is its emphasis on moving from theory into practical application. The training is structured to give participants hands-on experience with the tools and concepts they will use in their own classrooms. Participants dedicate significant time to developing interactive digital learning modules, creating scenarios for AI-driven learning experiences, and implementing coding and robotics activities. They do not just learn about these technologies; they use them.
The programme also places a strong value on the Finnish educational context. We begin with an examination of the Finnish National Core Curriculum and its approach to digital competence development. The training location in Jyväskylä itself is also significant, as it is a historical centre for teacher education in Finland and home to the University of Jyväskylä. Participants explored this heritage and cultural perspective on Finnish education during a sightseeing tour of the city. Part of the programme is also traditional Finnish sauna experience, helping to understand the essence of Finnish life and culture.
A key objective is to build an international professional network for the participants. Our courses are delivered to multinational groups, which creates a natural environment for exchanging ideas, materials, and experiences with colleagues from other countries. Both trainers facilitate this process, guiding the group through both structured sessions and informal learning moments.
