Course description:
This course is introducing full classes and their analysis about the theme of “student-centered teaching and learning”. The main topics include: differentiate teaching with functional methods; enhancing concentration and atmosphere; student as researcher; learning through activities/play; phenomenon-based learning.
Course content:
- Who is responsible for what? Teacher’s role and student’s role in the learning process
- Finnish classroom work in full-length recorded classes of
- English lesson
- Crafts lesson
- Multidisciplinary learning session
- Mathematics lesson
- Interpretation of student-centered classroom work with the teacher of the class teacher explain how (s)he planned the class, what kind of tools and methods were implemented to facilitate the class
- Possible tools for student assessment in the learner-oriented classroom
- Analysis of learner-oriented classroom work: comparison with participants’ own teaching practice. Identification of good practices that can be transferred
- Interpreting learner-centered classroom work in the perceptions of the educational researcher
