Ten teachers from primary and secondary schools in Czechia, Hungary, Lithuania, and Germany took part in an Erasmus+ teacher training course focused on Project-Based Learning (PBL) in Jyväskylä, Finland, from August 18th to 23rd. The training was led by an experienced Finnish trainer, Jukka Lehtoranta.

About Project-Based Learning Course
The course started with the fundamentals of Project-Based Learning (PBL). The group learned about the structure and framework of PBL. They discussed the role of the teacher in a project-based classroom and reflected on their own teaching methods. A key part of the learning was how PBL helps students develop important life skills and aligns with the Finnish National Core Curriculum.

A major part of the week was dedicated to practical work. Teachers learned how to combine subjects like Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) into projects. They worked together to design their own lesson plans and learned ways to assess students during a project. Each teacher built a portfolio of their work and presented their lesson ideas to the group for feedback.

Cultural Activities
An important part of the experience was a visit to a local Finnish school, Muurame High School. This was a special chance for the group to see a Finnish school and its facilities. They also went on a city tour of Jyväskylä to learn about its education system.

The program included cultural activities as well. The group visited a small island with a sauna called Lehtisaari, which they reached by rowing boats. They tried berry picking, a common Finnish autumn activity. They also visited the Mäki-Matti Family Park to see an example of free activities provided for families with small children in Jyväskylä.
