Experience Workshop’s „Sillat” project is launched in Finland

Anni, Maria, Nora and Maia preparing “Sillat” at Jyvälän Settlement

How to build bridges between people using the STEAM approach? How to contribute to language learning? How to support integration into society? How to learn from each other?

“Sillat” is the Finnish word for “Bridges”. Sillat is Experience Workshop’s new project, which launches on September 29, 2018, in collaboration with Jyvälä Settlement in Jyväskylä.Our project has three levels:

  1. Weekly workshops called “Tuu ja tee!” („Come and do”) with people of diverse cultural backgrounds, starting on October 1. Members of the group share their skills and knowledge with others, while also learning Finnish at the same time.
  2. Participation at local festivals and events with our own „Sillat” project. First occasion: September 29, building the Warka Water tower of diversity. The workshop is part of the City of Light / Valon kaupunki 2018 festival in Jyväskylä.
  3. Free STEAM training for teachers, community and social workers
