December 5, 2012: Experience Workshop, Bridges Organization and Symmetry Festival were introduced by Kristóf Fenyvesi at the Night of Mathematics in Heureka, Helsinki, one of the most significant Science Center in the Scandinavian region.
The participants of Night of Mathematics could join to a great number of interesting activities, like augmented reality games in mathematics, creative workshops, and presentations. Among many things else, it was a great experience to see Professor Jouko Koskinen, and try his innovative tile system and meet with the young Finnish masters of the Rubik’s cube.
Professor Osmo Pekonen mathematician and science historian introduced his new book, The Mysterious Venus. The beautiful book contains more than a hundred colorful pictures and covers the cultural history of a unique astronomical phenomenon, the transit of Venus.
A great highlight of the program was Harri Varpanen mathematician and juggler’s breathtaking performance inviting the audience into a circus of mathematics and explaining both in action and in formulas the mathematics of juggling.
It was a great fun to be there, thanks for Paula Havaste, Siina Vasama and Jani Koivula and all colleagues at Heureka Science Center the invitation and organizing!
